  2. Group Assignment • On one sheet of paper, list the names of all of the people in your group! • List the duties of each member in your group! • Hand list in to Mr. Robinson

  3. Journal Question: • What caused the recent Earthquakes in Haiti? • Are there any Boundaries around Massachusetts? • Would you knowingly live near a plate boundary? Why or why not? Due Monday!!!! March 7 (100 pts)

  4. Project • You will need internet access to complete this GROUP assignment! • Due Tuesday March 8, 2011

  5. Group Project: • Create a Diorama of the Structure of the Earth. • Essay 2 pages: Choose one plate Boundary. Describe the type of plate Boundary it is (Divergent, Convergent, or Transform). • Explain how the plate boundaries work, and how they are caused. • Research an actual Boundary/fault found somewhere around the world. • List the types of natural disasters that happen there. • Accurately describe HOW the earth quake, Volcano or volcanic eruption, or Tsunamis occur.

  11. Boundaries Place where two crustal plates meet Crust: Continental (thicker and less dense than the other) Oceanic crust (under the Ocean, more dense than the other)

  12. Lithosphere • Rocky top layer of the earth (Crust)

  13. Subduction Zone • Place where crust sinks into the mantle
