China last 20 years • 1990’s China had massive growth 11.2 % - means - last 25 years average Chinese person 4 times richer • 150 million pheasants out of poverty • 2001 joined World Trade Group • Increased personal liberties • Huge increase in resource use and pollution production • Took control of Hong Kong 1997 • Planned mission to moon • Military – modernization – quality over quantity
