  4. Who is Solidarity • One of the oldest – Registered 1913 • Known as the mineworkers union • 2001 Name change • How many members?

  6. Benefits • Free legal aid with labour case • Assistance with investigations • Collective bargaining

Benefits – Additional • Death benefits (AVBOB contract) Funeral plan • Cash disbursements additional to the funeral plan • At the death of paid-up member a cash amount of R3 000 is paid to the surviving spouse or dependent children. • At the death of the spouse of a paid-up member who pays full membership an amount of R2 000 is paid to the member. • Cash payments to full members at the death of children are: - Children aged between 14 and 21 years receives R1 500 - Children younger than 14 years receives R1 000 • Funeral arrangementsThe burden of funeral arrangements is alleviated by the fact that Solidarity and AVBOB will make the arrangements. • Rebate on headstones – 10% • Permanent medical disability – R1500 • Sickness benefits - R12 per day are paid to members from the date on which the employer discontinues all remuneration. • Maternity benefit – R1250 • Solidarity Magazine
