  1. The ability to earn an income is nearly every working American’s most valuable financial asset. It pays for their lifestyle — their home, their retirement and their children’s education.

  2. 1 in 4 working Americans will suffer an income-interrupting disability at some point during their working careers.

  3. But…theythink it won’t happen to them. 64% think they only have a 1% or 2% chance of becoming disabled.

  4. And…most don’t haveadequate protection. 67% of the private sector workforce is not covered by private long-term disability insurance.

  5. Plus…they don’t even want to talk about it! Research shows many are repelled by the term “disability.”

  6. The industry needs to change the conversation about the need for disability insurance. SO… We have teamed up with the nonprofit Council for Disability Awareness to create a new, engaging platform for raising public awareness.

  7. Defend Your Income is a movement designed to unite consumers, advisors, employers, insurers and the press in a fight to protect the incomes of working Americans from the risk and impact of unexpected illnesses and injuries.
