Introduction to Watch D.O.G.S. • An innovative program focusing on safety and education in schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two-fold purpose: • To provide an unobtrusive fathering presence • To provide a positive and active role-model for students at the school

  3. Introduction to Watch D.O.G.S. • Offered by the National Center for Fathering • Jim Moore, founder, began the program in 1998 following the Jonesboro, Arkansas middle school shooting tragedy • Visit http://www.fathers.com for more information

Who are the Kellybrook Watch D.O.G.S.? • We welcome all dads…including those who aren’t “Dad” but often fill the role of “Dad” (uncles, grandpas, etc.) • Volunteers that spend ONE day a year at their student’s school • Actively engage with not only their student(s) but the entire school population

  5. A Day in the Life of a Watch D.O.G. • The Schedule • 8:50 - Check in at the office • 8:55-9:10 - Assist with arrival • 9:10-9:20 – Classroom Hero • 9:20-3:45 – School Volunteer • Work with students on specific learning goals • Monitor the halls, volunteer in the Library, assist with lunch duty, volunteer during Specials classes • 3:45-4:00 – Complete Survey • 4:00-4:10 – Assist with dismissal

Why be a Watch D.O.G.? • Direct link between you and your child’s learning and educational day • Learn the daily routine • Know specifics about your child’s day = great conversations at home • Opportunity to get to know our Kellybrook community • Assist with meeting needs of ALL students • Confidentiality is crucial Most importantly… • Be a Watch D.O.G. in order to have a positive impact on children!
