  5. Activity: Classic Character

  6. Characterization • The More Characterization Attributes that are performed the more “real” the character • Team Challenge and Instant Challenge Appraisers should be aware of multiple Attributes teams are addressing in their characters

  7. Creating Characters • Team Managers can encourage teams to address multiple attributes in Instant Challenge and Team Challenge • Teams can practice creating well-developed characters using the Choose a Character chart • Teams can use the Character Generating Tool to produce characters that are real to the audience

  8. Steps to Stronger Performance Skills • Watch good performances • Discuss • What the actors did • How they sounded • How they moved • Discuss techniques your team can develop • Practice those skills

  9. Evaluating / ImprovingPerformance Skills • In what ways were you better than last time? • In what ways might you improve? • Are your characters believable? • In what ways might you improve your overall performance? PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

  10. Consistent Appraisingof Performance Skills • Decide on Criteria BEFORE 1st team • Watch the performance carefully • Note • WHAT the actors did • HOW they sounded • HOW they moved

  11. Consistent Appraising • Evaluate the Overall Performance • Did you understand it? • Did the solution make sense? • Was the point clear? • Were the actors convincing? • Did you enjoy the performance? • Jot down personal comments • Be consistent throughout the day

  12. Assessment • What is main difference between performance in IC and the TC? • (Team Managers) – What questions might you ask Team Members? • (Appraisers) - What questions would help you evaluate a team’s Performance Skills?
