  3. What we think! Adult Babies Babies hang on to mama-yes Babies drink milk - yes • Fur is gray and white - Yes • Have babies - Yes • Fur is soft - ? • Crawl/climb in trees - yes • Moms find the food - yes

  4. Questions we have??? • Are they nocturnal? • Do they have a pouch? • Do babies hatch from eggs? • Do babies go in a nest? • Do they move from one place to another, like raccoons?

  5. Our Discovery • They eat leaves • They have a pouch • They are a marsupial • They drink milk from their mom • They eat leaves from ‘Gum’ trees and Eucalyptus trees • They don’t go in nests • They are not bears

  6. Our Learning • They get most of their water from leaves • They are mammals • They only go to the ground when they are moving from tree to tree • They live in Australia • They are two feet tall • They live in the forest • Babies ride on their mom’s back

  7. More Learning • They leap from one tree to another • They weigh 20 pounds • They sleep during the day

  8. Fur Coat • Keeps them warm • The fur on their tummy is a lighter color • Fur is gray or brown • Keeps them dry

  9. Feet and Legs • They climb • They have five toes on their front • The two small ones (thumbs) help them climb • Their front legs are longer • They have claws that help them climb and defend themselves

  10. Senses • Nose is good at smelling • They have larger ears for good hearing • There nose is shiny and black • They have good eye sight • They smell leaves in case they are poisonous
