  4. Let’s E.A.T. What are your Expectations for today? What is your goal for today? What do you hope to take away from today? What kind of prayer life are you seeking?

  5. Let’s E.A.T. Time to Assess Rate your prayer life? • What prayer life? • Toddler (take a few steps and fall or fall asleep) • Trouble shooter (speak up when in trouble) • Probie (making progress, but still a rookie) • Deep Calls To Deep (intimate with God) Why isn’t your prayer life what you want it to be?

  6. Let’s E.A.T. Let’s Train My Personal Prayer Training Journey

  7. Let’s Train Concepts I hope will help • The Attitude that needs to be the heartbeat of prayer life • Two insightful Actions that may get your prayer life up and running

  8. The Attitude of Prayer Humility: The “Down-To-Earth” Attitude

  9. James 1:2-6 2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

  10. James 1:2-6 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

  11. James 1:2-6 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.

  12. James 5:13-18 13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.

  13. James 5:13-18 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

  14. James 5:13-18 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

  15. James 5:13-18 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

  16. James 3:13-18 13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

  17. James 3:13-18 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.

  18. James 3:13-18 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.

  19. James 3:13-18 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

  20. James 3:1 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.

  21. Honor, Humility and Wisdom Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.Proverbs 11:2 Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor. Proverbs 18:12 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

  23. 1 Corinthians 1:28-29 NIV 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.

  24. James says Humility is… Being Teachable 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.James 1:21

  25. James says Humility is… Staying Close To God Through Obedience 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:7-8

  26. James says Humility is… Pure, gentle, submission 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. James 4:7-8

Humility Quotes • “A true genius admits that he/she knows nothing.” Albert Einstein • “If anyone tells you that a certain person speaks ill of you, do not make excuses about what is said of you but answer, "He was ignorant of my other faults, else he would not have mentioned these alone.” Epictetus • “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” C.S. Lewis

  30. Numbers 12:1-8 While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman. 2 They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them.

  31. Numbers 12:1-8 3 (Now Moses was very humble—more humble than any other person on earth.)

  32. Numbers 12:1-8 4 So immediately the Lord called to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and said, “Go out to the Tabernacle, all three of you!” So the three of them went to the Tabernacle.

  33. Numbers 12:1-8 5 Then the Lord descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle. “Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward.

  34. Numbers 12:1-8 6 And the Lord said to them, “Now listen to what I say: “If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams.

  35. Numbers 12:1-8 7 But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust. 8 I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”

  36. Numbers 12:13 13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “O God, I beg you, please heal her!” Moses prays and Mariam lives…

  37. Connect the Verses 3, 8, 13 • Moses is the most humble person on earth. • He alone sees God for who he is. • His prayers connect with God and God connects with him.

  38. Matthew 11:28-29 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

  39. Philippians 2:5-8 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God,he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.

  40. Philippians 2:5-8 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slaveand was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

  41. Luke 11:1 Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
