  1. Prayer L.O Understand the significance of symbols in the celebration of Baptism and Confirmation.

Another symbol which is experienced during confirmation is prayer. • After listening to the reading at the celebration of Confirmation, prayers called Intercessions are said. • People pray for those who have been confirmed. Later the whole congregation prays the ‘Our Father’ together. • At the end of the mass the priest says special blessings. • Prayers are symbols of care, love, blessing, praise, petition or asking.

  3. Look at the page of prayers. In groups, find the prayers of asking. • What Christian needs are being asked for here? • In the ‘Our Father’, there are more asking words- What are they?

  4. Task Design a poster using the symbol of the cross as the centre piece and surround it with the Christian needs you have just discovered.
