University Advancement Mission Statement • University Advancement is responsible for creating awareness and generating support for SF State’s academic, research and public service missions. • Our strategic goals are to instill well-deserved pride in University accomplishments, strengthen awareness and support among the University's key stakeholders, and build a culture of philanthropy and support for SF State. • This is accomplished through strategic efforts that incorporate communications, government and community relations, development and alumni relations.

Highlightsof 2010-11 • Total raised was $14,285,630, exceeding our goal by 13.4%. • A $5,000,000 gift from Kay Takeyama Dilena, Ph.D. was the largest contribution to the University. • The total number of gifts at 10,282 made for a record-setting year, a 13% increase over FY 20090-10. • The number of Emeriti Faculty donors increased by 87%. • Gifts to restricted endowments represented 51% of the total at $7,193,270 raised. • Twenty-two percent (22%) of all gifts went to academic divisions.
