  2. The Sport Club Council • Student led • Two Professional staff, one Graduate Assistant, and four student SCC Executive Managers • Each student SCC member holds 6-10 office hours each week and are available by appointment • Location – third floor of UREC • We are a resource!!

The Sport Club Council • Is a resource for all 45 club sport teams • Holds monthly President meetings • Decision making body for sport clubs • Acts as a disciplinary advisory board • The SCC creates an atmosphere for intellectual growth, leadership, and experiential learning while representing their respective organization. • Works behind the scenes in order to provide your team with a successful season!

SCC President • Meredith Gilmer • jmusccpresident@gmail.com • Plans and facilitates President’s and SCC Exec meetings • Works directly with Chris Jones, the Assistant Director For Sport Clubs to maintain day-to-day operations • Assists the rest of SCC executive members with duties • Plans the End-of-the-Year Picnic for all Sport Club members

  12. Communal Equipment Available • JMU Easy Up Tents • Sound System/Speakers • Water Coolers • Video Camera • Flip Scoreboards • Tables • Folding Chairs • Sleeping Bags • Tents

  13. Sports Club Closet • Where – Located on the second floor of UREC to the right side of the main gym • What – All team equipment and storage

How to check-out team equipment at the beginning of the year • Email the SCC Vice President to request an appointment time to collect your sport club equipment • Once a time is scheduled with one of the co-VPs: • Make sure that you have requested WHAT equipment you want to take/return from the UREC closet • Bring at least two people to pick/return up equipment (depending on what was requested) • Come through the main entrance of UREC • Meet the SCC VP at the closet • The process is the same to return equipment at the end of the year!

How to check out communal equipment for on campus events • Submit an activity request for an event that includes equipment needs (can be done by any officers) • http://www.jmu.edu/recreation/Programs/SportClubs/forms.html • You will receive a confirmation email for the event with the details of the request • Equipment can be picked up on the Friday prior to your event after Noon (unless noted on activity request) at the UREC Loading Dock • Equipment can be reserved for any day of the week using the activity request form • For off campus events simply email jmusccvicepresident@gmail.com with your request.

Loading Dock • This is where you will pick up equipment • Take Driver Drive off of University Blvd and follow until you see UREC on your left, look for the big garage door. • When you arrive, call the number listed on the yellow phone(located outside of the loading dock) and you will be put in contact with an OP SUP (UREC employee) and they will come help you.

Loading Dock • When dropping off at the loading dock: • Follow the same procedures as picking up • You need to return all of your equipment by the first Monday after you have picked it up by 10pm. • Once you have dropped everything off please send an email to jmusccvicepresident@gmail.com saying: • WHAT was dropped off • WHEN you dropped it off • WHO you dropped it off with. (UREC Employee)

  19. Equipment should ONLY be dropped off with a member of SCC OR UREC Employee in the loading dock. NO WHERE ELSE.

  20. Penalties • $50 dollar fee for equipment not turned in by Monday at 10pm with few exceptions made for people with extenuating circumstances

  21. Penalties… • Damaged or lost equipment is a $50 fine. • If you request equipment but fail to pick it up at the loading dock, you will receive a penalty. After the 2nd penalty your club will no longer be able to borrow communal equipment.

  25. Student Leadership Office Marketing tools • The SLO on the third floor of UREC has a marketing closet that all Club Exec members are welcome to use for their team, NOT personal use. • You may use the marketing closet/SLO for: • Poster/banner making • Laminating • Making copies • Printing

SLO Marketing Tools • If you would like to use the closet, please refer to the SCC office hours on the UREC website AND email a member of the SCC and let them know: • WHEN you will be coming • WHY you are coming (what you are making something for) • How many people you will be bringing to help you (other teammates)

  27. Sport Club Bulletin Board: • We have a bulletin board located on the first floor by the MAC gym. • There is a calendar of events that the SCC VP’s will update • If you would like to promote an upcoming event, contact the SCC VP and he can add your event to the calendar.

Other Marketing Opportunities • Web page- • If there is anything you wish to add about YOUR CLUB’S UREC sports club page then please send it to us and we will add/change anything. • This pages usually includes information about your club’s # of members, executive board, season, conference, tryouts, membership requirements, dues, practice schedule, achievements, related links, & how to support your club. • If your club has a webpage and you would like that link on your UREC sports club page, just send us the link and we will put it on there.

Other Marketing Opportunities • Grafton Stovall Movie Theater – ad before movie for $25 • Marketing through UREC and University Park • Welcome TV-ad or event on scrolling schedule • Flyers/banners • All marketing in UREC MUST be approved by UREC Marketing and Development Coordinator and/or Sport Club Assistant Director

  30. Newsletter • Marketing tool to promote what your club has been doing! Can include competition results, community service, fundraising, pictures…anything • To be part of the newsletter please send any information about your club’s activities/success to the SCC • Information for newsletters will be due in the end of October and end of March

  31. Facebook Page • A place to share and connect with each other. Share your club activities and news • Sport Club of the Month will be highlighted here • Weekend highlights will be shared after submission to Vice President • Our goal is to highlight two clubs each week through videos and pictures
