  2. Creating a “Cult” Following • New move in airline advertising/marketing to turn “clients” into “cult” • Generate revenue, loyalty and engagement • Two-way conversation with customers • Damaging online complaints • Use social media to engage customers and build loyalty

Social Media Key to Flying Loyalty • Social media: facebook, twitter, LinkedIn • Benefits of social media: • Immediate communication • Two-way interaction • Reach broad audience rapidly • Identify and target “brand advocates” to generate brand awareness among cult members • But can’t just be online. Have to have a goal: Loyalty (driven by rewards and recognition)

Old Infographics Creating New Buzz • Infographics not new method but being used in a novel way to attract consumers • Airlines and airports are looking for new ways to engage frequent flyers • Can reach a broad audience immediately with social network and can create cult-like following • Infographics aid these goals as they are visually appealing, summarize complex information clearly and can create dialog between company and consumer • Caveat: Can be too lengthy!
