Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse (ATC) Purpose • Exchange of transcripts among Ohio State-Assisted higher education institutions • Provide information that insures equitable and consistent treatment of key courses during transfer evaluation and planning • Also • Extend electronic transcript exchange to campuses • Introduce web-service architecture to Board of Regents • Possibly supports use of platform by other applications • Provide a future electronic transcript exchange platform for use by high schools, private institutions, and career/technical institutions 2006 OHECC ATC Update

How Are We Implementing the Policy? • Ohio Transfer Module (OTM) • Transfer Articulation Guides (TAGs) • Agree-upon Learning Outcomes Associated with the OTM and TAGs • Guarantee Transfer and Application of Courses that Map to Learning Outcomes • Guarantee Preferential Admissions • Provide Advising Tools • Provide a Mechanism for Annotating Transcripts with Agreed-upon, Mapped Courses 2006 OHECC ATC Update

Transfer Articulation Guide Development • What? • Specific courses guaranteed to transfer and apply to degrees • General education and beginning courses within the major • Advising tool for 38 majors • Largest collaborative higher education curriculum project in the history of the state 2006 OHECC ATC Update

Example – Starting in WI 2006 • Suppose OSU has indicated that MATH123 matches the learning outcomes of OTM001 • Suppose CSCC has indicated that MTH 166 matches the learning outcomes of OTM001 • Suppose WSUN has indicated that MTHM101 and MTHM102 together match the learning outcomes of OTM001 • WSUN also has indicated that MTHM200 matches the learning outcomes of OTM 001 • Suppose I take MTH166 at CSCC in AU2005 – no match! • Suppose I take MTH166 at CSCC in WI2006 and apply to transfer to WSU and OSU after SP2006 • ATC supplements my transcript destined for OSU with OTM001 and MATH123 information • ATC supplements my transcript destined for WSUN with OTM001 and MTHM101 and MTHM102 information as well as MTHM200 2006 OHECC ATC Update

Doesn’t CAS already do this? • CAS provides similar information for planning purposes • ATC provides support for official transcript exchange when a student moves between campuses • We will continue to address the overall Ohio Transfer and Articulation Architecture with CAS 2006 OHECC ATC Update

Campus Interface Strategy • Heavy reliance on campus expertise • Will utilize a pilot group of campuses • ATC will support multiple mechanisms to connect ATC with campus SIS • Project will use existing products and tools for data extraction as much as possible • Final direction will depend on institutional factors • Type of SIS and overall institutional IT environment • Expect volatility in this arena with SIS and separate vendors both capable of producing PESC XML • Board of Regents has funding to support some institutional work 2006 OHECC ATC Update
