    2. ADMISSION PROCESS It is a selective admission Nursing program is 4 semesters NSG 101 - Fundamentals NSG 202 – Medical Surgical NSG 203 – Psych/Med Surg II NSG 204 – Maternal Child Pre-requisite courses are mandatory Students must declare pre-nursing as major

    4. Preferences for Selective Admission ACT composite score of 21 or greater Pre-nursing GPA of 3.0 on at least 12 hours or more by the end of the fall semester 2007) Completion of BIO 137 Completion of BIO 139 Completion of BIO 225

Minimum Requirements 2.75 GPA in pre-nursing courses 10 hours of pre-nursing courses by the end of the spring semester (2008) before August admission BIO 137 PSY 110/100 MT 110/150 Score of 17 on the ACT (MINIMUM) Score at the 50th percentile on the CNET Registered CNA (state registry at time of 1st course) CPR certification High school transcripts on file at Registrar’s office Other college transcripts on file at Registrar’s office

    6. Things to Know MNA certification required Pre-nursing conference must be attended prior to each application. Applications on students applying from year to year will not be kept. Program is accredited by Southern Association of Community Colleges

Application Process Application process begins at pre-nursing conference** CNET Exam – Please call 686-4444 (CCED) Be prepared for an interview By mid-April., students will receive an email to verify test scores and transcripts. Sometime in April (?), students will be contacted to schedule interview if qualified. After interview, students will be notified as to admission or denial. Dates are yet to be determined.

EXPENSES Books Largest purchase is in 1st semester $1,100-$1,300 Subsequent semesters have books, but not as many Testing plan ATI- standardized, used each semester to evaluate learning and retention of content Predictor exam at end of program to evaluate readiness for NCLEX Total package approximately $450.00 NCLEX- (state boards) $350.00 (last semester only) Equipment & Health Information Stethescope, scissors, pen light, goggles $50 TB skin test, rubella & rubeola titers, tetanus vaccine??? Uniforms Uniform top, pants, shoes, socks, lab coat, patch $100

Selection Criteria Cumulative GPA 3.0 (Preference) 2.5 (Minimum) Compass Test Reading – Must complete 030 or test at College Entry Level English – Must complete 091 or test into English 101 Math – Must complete 065 (070) or test at or above 34 on COMPASS. ACT is acceptable. If Reading, English or Math is <18, Compass testing is required.

PLANNING FOR SUCCESS AND CONTINUED EDUCATION The nursing faculty of OCTC strongly encourage all nursing students to complete the general education courses required by the Associate Degree Nursing Curriculum Licensed Practical Nurses wishing to further their education, will need to meet these requirements prior to enrolling in the RN programs. Students tend to be better prepared for the PN program if the RN curricula is followed.
