  2. What is NCWISE? eSIS – Electronic Student Information System

  3. What is the TAM? -Teacher Assistant Module – This is not for your Teacher Assistant!!!!! -Allows teacher to enter marks, take attendance, create a gradebook, and run reports. -WE WILL ONLY BE DOING ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR!

  4. Set Up Your Laptop for Use with NCWISE • Install Firefox • A. Click on Firefox Icon on CD • B. Click NEXT • C. Click Standard and uncheck “Use Firefox • as my default web browser” • D. Click Next NCWISE will work with IE 6 or 7 however you must uninstall your Google Toolbar. We recommend using Firefox with NCWISE. NCWISE will not provide tech support with IE 7.

  5. Installing Firefox, cont’d • Click Install • Click Finish • Click Next on the • following two screens • H. Click Finish OPTIONAL

  6. 2. Install the J Initiator Plug-In A. Double Click on the jinit icon B. Click NEXT C. Click OK D. Close and reopen Firefox Browser

  7. Set Home Page (Firefox Browser) to http://esis.ncwise.org • A. Click Tools • B. Click Options • C. Click Use Current Page • D. Click OK • Rename Firefox Icon to NCWISE • A. Right Click Firefox Icon • B. Click Rename • C. Type in NCWISE • 5. You are ready to log on to NCWISE!

  8. Logging Into NC WISE • A. Imaged Computers: Click on the NCWISE Icon. • B. Home computers/Tier 1 Laptop computers will go to http://esis.ncwise.org using FIREFOX Browser. • 2. Login to the Teacher Assistant Module (TAM) • Enter Username • Password • Database ***The USERNAME, PASSWORD and DATABASE you are receiving today are FOR PRACTICE PURPOSES ONLY. You will receive your actual login information when we go live with NCWISE.

  9. Daily Attendance • Click the radio button in front of Homerooms. • Highlight the class and semester you will be working with. 3. Click List (Under Attendance)

Taking Daily Attendance Step 1: Student is Absent – Click A, Student is Late – Click L Step 2: Select a Reason(The reason will always be UNEXCUSED ABSENCE or UNEXCUSED LATE) Step 3: Place a check in the Attendance Completed box at the bottom of the screen. Step 4: Click the Diskette button to SAVE. Step 1 Step 2 Step 5 Step 4 Step 3 Step 5: Click the DOOR button to Exit the Daily Attendance screen. Data Managers will make corrections after attendance has been submitted.

  12. How to Change Password • Click Setup Options button • Click Preferences

Click Edit User Profile • Change password • Click Disk to Save • Click Door to Exit • Click Door again to back out of Preferences • Click OK to back out of Setup Options IMPORTANT: Passwords must begin with an ALPHA and must be 8 characters, must change every 90 days AND may not be shared with anyone!

  14. Security • How to Lock/Unlock the Screen • A. Click on Lock • Pop Up Screen “System Locked” will appear • Enter your password to unlock • Click OK • Logging Out of the TAM • Click door icon • Click Ok to exit • Do NOT share your password with anyone – including your teacher assistant and substitute teacher!!!! • *State Board Policy EEO-C-18 – Sharing log-ins may be a dismissible offense.

  15. Extras • Yellow Alert Button – communicates special information regarding a student. • Hot Print Button • - has 9 report options to print • Colors • -Purple – Student has already been marked absent • -Blue – Cross enrolled • -Red - Withdrawn

  16. Report Options 1 3 Homeroom Reports 2 • Select Radio Button (Homeroom or Class) • Click Reports • Select Report to Print 1 Class Reports 3 2 IMPORTANT: Recommended for teachers to print homeroom list for substitute teacher folder to be used for attendance when teacher is absent.
