Registration • Must be registered in order to practice!! • MSHSL Eligibility Statement • Health Questionnaire • Emergency Contact Information • Co-Curricular Transportation Waiver • Sports Physical Exam – valid for 3 years • Participation Fee: $250 • Damage Deposit: $100 • May not practice without red registration card • Impact Testing - Nate Tellers / OSR • Transfers – see the AD

Participation Fees • $250 • Registration online at MWHS website • Refunds – 100% refund for the first 7 days of participation; 50% refund from 2nd day of 2nd week until the 1st competition; no refund after competition begins • No 3rd sport discount for lacrosse As a self funded team there is no financial assistance from the district for third sport athletes

Important Dates • Captains Practices March 19–23 4:30-6:00pm Pond • First Practice March 26 5:00–6:30 Thaler Arena • Outside Practices Fields 3 & 4 4:00 – 6:00 • First Game April 10 vs St Cloud home • Omelet Breakfast Sunday May 13 Mound Legion • Overnight Saturday April 14 @ Shakopee AmericInn in Shakopee • NSLA State Tournament May 18 – 20 Haddorf Stadium

  7. Player Equipment • Crosse (lacrosse stick) Women’s only • Eye Protection - approved women’s lacrosse goggle • Mouth Guard - Not white or clear Players will not be allowed to practice without the above items • Black Tennis Skirt – compression short type is best not needed until the first game • Water Bottle • Cleats – Optional but recommended soccer type molded cleat • Most Equipment is available at larger sporting goods stores locally Gear West in Long Lake $10 off coupons available here tonight

  8. Equipment Supplied by the Team • Jerseys - Home and AwayBring both to every game • Pinnies - Each player will be issued a numbered pinnie the first day of practice, must be brought to every practice and scrimmage • Balls • Tape, prewrap, first aid supplies • Goalie Equipment • Water at practices and games

  9. Games • JV & Varsity play at Haddorf Stadium • No charge for home games • Concessions • April 10 vs St Cloud will be on Field 3 • Players may participate in 3 half's per day

Overnight • Saturday April 14 following scrimmage vs Shakopee • Shakopee AmericInn 4100 12th Avenue East, Shakopee, MN 952-445-6775 • Pizza dinner Saturday and breakfast Sunday provided • Players costs are covered by registration fee • Parents/Chaperones room rate $76.95 • To get this lower rate make reservation by March 14 mention Mound Westonka lacrosse • Parents may pick up players at the game or hotel if they are not able to stay overnight • Bus to scrimmage leaves after ACT testing on SaturdayBus from hotel Sunday morning leaving by10:00am

  13. Transportation • Busses for all away gamesLoad at the horseshoe area North Doors • Loading Times will vary with destination between 2:50 and 3:30 except April 17 & May 1 • Shattuck April 17 and St Cloud May 1 will be early release days

Middle School League • For girls currently in 6-8th grades • No previous lacrosse experience necessary • First week of June thru July • Registration thru Westonka Community Ed • 1-2 practices per week 1 game per week • Cost $120 • 4 home and 4 away games • Players are responsible for their own transportation • Games are against west suburban teams • 8th graders who make the high school team are not eligible • Players need to be US Lacrosse members

  16. Appropriate Discussion Topics – Parents/Coach • Welfare of the student-athlete • Academics • Logistics – practice times, busing, etc. • “What” or “How” questions

  17. Inappropriate Discussion Topics – Parents/Coach • Team selection • Playing time • Team strategy • Other student-athletes • “Why” questions

  18. Attendance Policy • Students must be in attendance the entire school day in order to participate in an activity after school • Exceptions • School-related absence (field trip) • Medical appointments, funerals, court appointments – with a note

  19. Chemical Eligibility • A student shall not at any time, regardless of the quantity: • Use or consume, have in possession a beverage containing alcohol; • Use or consume, have in possession tobacco; or, • Use or consume, have in possession, buy, sell or give away any other controlled substance or drug paraphernalia • Chemical Eligibility Suspensions • 2 weeks/2 contests – whichever is greater • 3 weeks/6 contests – whichever is greater • 4 weeks/12 contests – whichever is greater

  20. Academic Eligibility • New Quarter requirements – if a student fails 1 class in a quarter, he/she is ineligible for contests for two weeks or two contests, whichever is greater, following the official posting of grades. This policy starts with the 1st quarter grades of this year and takes effect for the winter sports season.

Boosters • Meetings first Tuesday of each month • As a self funded team the boosters coordinate everything the school usually does including expenses, logistics, fundraising, scholarships, banquet and more • Costs covered by the boosters include: Field equipment, Coaches, Transportation, Officials, Trainers, Jerseys, Tournaments, Training, Overnight • Come to meetings and help MWHS girls lacrosse grow • Board President – Linda Dreyer Vice President - Cheryl Mahoney Secretary – Desiree Hemstock Treasurer – Terry Mahoney

  26. Fundraising = No Booster Fees We will do two fundraisers throughout the season

  27. Omelet Breakfast • Sunday May 13 – Mound American Legion • Breakfast & Silent Auction • Cost $10 per ticket • Team will setup, serve and clean up • Each player is responsible for 5 tickets • Parents needed to help organize the silent auction

  28. NSLA Girls State Lacrosse Tournament • Friday May 18 – Sunday May 20 • Haddorf Stadium • Parents and players will work concessions and ticket sales • Our biggest fundraiser • Coordinators needed
