  2. Our criteria and priorities • Accessible London • Bridging Communities • Improving Londoners’ Mental Health • London’s Environment • Older Londoners • Positive Transition to Independent Living • Strengthening the Third Sector

  3. Accessible London • Accessible transport • 50% of the cost of new accessible vehicles • Mostly community transport schemes • Accessible buildings • access audits and free access advice • capital grants usually up to £50k • New build or refurbishment of community buildings

  4. Accessible London • Accessible arts & sport • Increasing disabled people’s participation in these areas • As participants or audience

  5. Positive Transitions to Independent Living • Help to move people onto a new stage in their life : • Services for people with a newly acquired disability to help them maintain choice and control in their lives. • Work assisting young disabled people with the transition to adulthood. • Support for disabled people in managing independent living and ‘personal budgets’. • Work supporting disabled parents including those with learning disabilities.

  6. Improving Londoners’ Mental Health We can fund work addressing mental health needs of : • depression amongst older people. • children and young people and their families and carers. • homeless people, transient people and rough sleepers. • prisoners, ex-prisoners and others in contact with the Criminal Justice System. • “trauma” amongst refugee and asylum seekers. • Resettlement support for people with mental health issues living independently or in supported accommodation.

  7. Good Practice • involve service-users in the management and running of the service • welcome people of all backgrounds and value diversity • value and support volunteers • are taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint.

  8. Do’s and Don’t’s • We won’t be your largest single revenue funder • We don’t fund new and emerging groups • Track record and accounts • Allow enough time • Complete and double check the application form • Send what we ask for • Don’t use jargon • ‘Fallow period’ for existing grant holders • Monitoring and evaluation requirements • Are all your statutory returns up to date ? • Seek help and advice – don’t be afraid to ask !
