  2. Soil • The Earth’s soil is made of tiny rocks. • It has bits of dead plants and animals in it. • Soil has air and water in it too.

  3. All Living Things Use Soil Plants need soil to grow. Soil has water that plants need. Small pieces of dead plants and animals in soil enrich it.

  4. How People Use Soil People use soil in different ways. Farmers use soil for growing foods. Builders mix soil, water, and straw to make bricks. Adobe house

  5. How Living Things Use Soil • Some worms and insects live in soil. Many other animals use soil to make shelters. How do you think this insect and the worm uses soil?

  6. What is soil made of? What are some ways plants and animals use soil? Have you ever wondered just how much soil there is on the Earth to grow plants? Let’s Think About It!
