  4. 3. Sneferu • Built at least three famous pyramids that survive to this day and introduced major innovations in the design and construction of pyramids in Ancient Egypt.

  14. 8. Thutmose III • Considered a military genius; he was known for expanding the borders of Egypt greatly. • Made 17 raids on neighboring lands and was known for crushing his enemies • May have killed his predecessor (and step-mother AND aunt) Hatshepsut

  15. 9. Amenhotep III • His reign was a period of unprecedented prosperity and artistic splendor, when Egypt reached the peak of her artistic and international power.

  16. 10. Akhenaten • Ruled during the New Kingdom; was known for attempting to abandon polytheism and adopt monotheism (worship of only Aten), married to Nefertiti

  17. 11. Nefertiti • She and her husband were known for a religious revolution, inz which they started to worship one god only. • May have ruled independently after her husband died (before King Tut became pharaoh).

  18. 12. Tutankhamun (aka King Tut) • Ruled during the New Kingdom; became pharaoh at age 9 and died at age 19. • Became famous after his tomb was discovered virtually untouched since it was sealed.

  19. 13. Seti I • Father of Ramses II (Ramses the Great); known for his great architecture feats and restoring Egyptian prestige

  20. 14. Ramses II • Seemed to do everything over the top. He is probably the most prolific of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs, siring over 100 children with more than a dozen wives. He is well regarded as the builder of more temples and statues than any of the other ancient Egyptian pharaohs.

  22. 15. Ptolemy I • A Macedonian general under Alexander the Great, who became ruler of Egypt and started the Ptolemaic dynasty
