  1. Defeating Hades By Amanda Day

  2. How to play To follow through this interactive digital story, please click on the geometric shapes with your chosen option to proceed. This particular story will take you through the Underworld to meet Hades, the Greek God, in the form of a video game. Continue

  3. Where it all begins… You and your best friend Tim were playing video games after school one afternoon. He had brought over the latest copy of “Defeating Hades, Lord of the Underworld”. The reviews on the Internet said that the game was so realistic that it felt like you were actually inside the Underworld yourself! Continue

  4. The quote on the box says that the terror is real and to play at your own risk. You have to get through the obstacles, into Hades’ palace and steal his helmet of invisibility in order to defeat him. When Tim asks if you want to give it a shot, you say… Yes No

  5. You said no… You told Tim that you didn’t want to play the game. Tim laughed at you and called you a wimp. He took the game and went over to his friend Jeremy’s house. To make things worse, your Mum just got home and is yelling at you to clean your room. Do you chase after Tim and tell him that you changed your mind? No Yes

  6. No? You really want to stay at home and clean your room instead of playing video games with Tim and Jeremy? Suit yourself. You sit at home and clean your room for the rest of the afternoon by yourself and hear all about how great the game was tomorrow at school.

  7. You said yes… You decided to play the game with Tim. You put the disk into the console but you have trouble choosing who will be player 1 and 2. You use Paper, Scissors, Rock to determine who gets the honour of player 1. Which one do you choose? Paper Scissors Rock

  8. Paper You chose Paper and crushed Tim’s rock! Congratulations, you are Player 1! Start the game!

  9. Scissors You chose scissors but Tim’s rock crushes you. It looks like you’re stuck with Player 2. Do you want to challenge him to a rematch? No Yes

  10. Rock You both chose Rock! You will have to try again. Rematch

  11. The game begins… The game starts and you’re sent into the Underworld! You find yourself standing outside the gates but it’s locked with chains. There is a sign to the right with important information on it and a sword laying on the ground to the left that you might be able to use to cut the chains to the gate. Which way do you go? Sword Sign

  12. You called a rematch! Which one do you choose this time? Scissors Paper

  13. The sword… Tim picks up the sword and tries to break the chains around the gate but he gets electrocuted! You watch as his soul floats out of his body and through the gates to the Underworld. Your best friend is now under the control of Hades! Do you go back to the start of the game or try the sword and rescue Tim yourself? Sword Restart

  14. You try the sword again… You pick up the sword that Tim dropped and try to cut the chains yourself. You get electrocuted and die as well! You’re now one of Hades’ slaves for the rest of eternity. Don’t you wish you read that sign now? Oh well, too late! Try again? Yes

  15. The sign… “Oh dear, it looks like Hades has electrified the gate… if anything touches the gate it will be instantly fried!” You have to get past the gate somehow. If only there was a way to blow the electrical circuit. You notice there is a bucket of water behind the sign. Do you pick it up or go for the sword? Sword Bucket

  16. You lost! Your soul belongs to the Lord of the Underworld now. What a shame. Do you want to try again? Yes

  17. You pick up the bucket… You pick up the bucket of water and throw it at the gate. The gate’s electricity shuts off but the chain is still there. Pick up the sword to break though! Sword

  18. You pick up the sword! You use the sword to break through the chains and enter the Underworld. Once inside you are faced with a large three headed dog named Cerberus that guards Hades’ realm. Do you sacrifice Tim to Cerberus and run for your life, use the sword to kill it or use your iPod to put him to sleep? Sacrifice Tim Use the sword Use iPod

  19. You sacrifice Tim… You push Tim into Cerberus and start running. Tim pauses the game, tells you that you’re an awful friend and leaves to play with your friend Jeremy. Your Mum calls your name from downstairs and orders you to do the dishes. You should have put the dog to sleep… Do you want to try again? Yes

  20. You use the sword… You try to use the sword to slay Cerberus but he is so much larger than you that it barely makes a scratch. You’ve angered the three headed dog and he eats both you and Tim. Your souls now belong to Hades. Do you want to try again? Yes

  21. You use your iPod… You use your iPod to put Cerberus to sleep. You sneak past him to the river Styx where you meet Charon, the ferryman that takes people across the river to Hades’. However, he demands something in return. What do you do? Try to pay him with a credit card Try to swim across the river Try to pay him with two coins

  22. You try to pay Charon with a credit card… Are you serious? You want to pay an undead ferryman with a credit card?! Both Tim and Charon laugh at you. Try again. Try to swim across the river Try to pay him with two coins

  23. Try to swim across… You try to swim across but get dragged beneath the surface and drowned by the lost souls drifting through the river. Your soul now belongs to Hades forever. You should have payed him in coins.Do you want to start again? Yes

  27. You try to take it by force… You shove past Hades and try to grab his Invisibility helmet. 28. You fight Hades… You decide to fight Hades to win the helmet of Invisibility. Hades lets you choose between two weapons. Which do you pick? A sword Your wits

  29. Stay in the Underworld… You decided to stay in the Underworld for all eternity instead of fighting Hades. You may be free to wander around and do as you please but you may never leave. You are Hades’ property forever. Congratulations, you get to live with dead people. Do you want to try again? Yes

  33. You try to flatter Hades into giving you the helmet… You tell Hades that he is far too mighty to be in such a dark, dismal occupation and would be better suited to ruling Olympus instead. 34. You put the helmet on… You take that opportunity to put it on, sneak behind him and push him into the river Styx where he is taken by the souls of the damned. He is unable to climb out and is stuck there for all eternity. You have won the game! You and Tim may return to the world of the living. Go on

  35. You choose the sword… You try to duel Hades and end up stabbing him but he is immortal, therefore your efforts are wasted. Beg for your life Say “Come at me, Bro”

  36. You use your wits… You use your wits and use Hades’ jealousy against him.
