  1. General Guidelines BMI3C1

  2. Attendance • Regular attendance is necessary, due to the sheer volume of work • Hands-on: though there is much theory to be learned, the projects are all digital and require lot of time in class • Homework: digital nature of the course requires all work to be done in class. Though there is no homework, the work needs to be done here! • Attendance is key • Time management skills are required

  3. Punctuality • Lunchtime detentions will be given to all students who arrive late for class • Students must be in class before the bell rings. This is a split class and I often have instructions to give at the beginning of class. Miss those instructions and you are on your own! • Students who are repeatedly late will receive lunchtime detentions each time they are late. You decide, is it really worth it?

  4. Daily Work – Part 1 • Each chapter has quite a bit of theory you need to know. You will be required to read through each chapter and type the answers into your worksheets. (see next slide) This will help you retain the information and give you good notes to study from. • I’ve designed the note taking system to be as easy as possible, by asking you to type only the most relevant information in each chapter. • Notes are also done in a sequential manner; you don’t need to go back and forth within any chapter • Marks will be given only to students who have completed and handed in their notes for each chapter

  5. Daily Work – Part 2 • Projects: Each chapter has projects, some small some big • They are all digital, to be completed on the computer, in class. • Websites: you will learn how to build a website, and many projects will be done this way • PowerPoint Presentations • Movies, audio/mp3/podcasts

  6. Testing • All of the tests for this class are also digital • True and false • Multiple choice • Fill in blank • Matching • Short answer • You will receive your mark immediately, EXCEPT for the short answer which I must mark myself.

  7. Work at your Own Pace… • You will be permitted to complete each chapter at your own pace: • Students who tend to work quickly are not expected to rush through and then do nothing and wait. Rather, they are expected to produce projects of higher quality, which will improve their marks. Time management skills will serve you well in your future, learn them now! • When it’s time to move on to the next chapter, the entire class moves on whether each student is done or not. Work will be due on specific days
