  1. Electronic MediaBy: Christopher Tingey A tool or a crutch?

  2. Good things about electronic media • Promotes discussion • Can expand our knowledge in various subjects • Helps us organize vast amounts of information • Stay connected with people who are far away • Eases our day to day tasks

  3. Media Sources That Benefit • TED (a video based idea sharing forum) • YouTube (find detailed information on any subject) • Wikipedia (promotes the free sharing of information internationally) • Online banking (monitor your financial status and promote better budgeting and money management)

  4. Look up These!

  5. Bad things about Electronic Media • Wastes time • Addictive • Promotes poor health • Decreases personal interactions • Lessens real life understanding • Promotes micro sub cultures

  6. Sources that harm • Video Games (violence, lack of moral, and desensitized personas) • YouTube (Cat videos, Harlem shake, and auto tune the news, need I say more.) • Online shopping (anything you want to buy at the click of a button, even if you don’t need it)

  7. Case in Point

  8. How to better the situation • Limit our time on media • Explore hobbies and experiences in the real world • Listen and watch informational sources • Go and talk to the people in your life rather than always Facebook messaging them. • Go for a hike, run, or bike ride rather than doing it virtually.

  9. Better then getting level 70!

  10. What will happen if we don’t change our media usage? • Degradation of social interaction and intelligence • Poor health due to the lack of exercise • Loosened moral standards • Debt from “one click shopping”
