  1. Power is the great aphrodisiac.

  2. Reflective Introduction Power is such an interesting subject. The word can describe energy, ability, control and influence. It is used in many contexts, as the following, Power is the ability to influence others. When a person has enough power in a society, it gives them a lot of control over certain things. When they have this control, they can have ownership over a person or a thing. By naming someone, or something, a person gains an unspoken ownership over him or her, they are now in control of him or her and it has created a new identity for them and erased their old identity.

  3. Because power operates both relationally and reciprocally, sociologists speak of the balance of power between parties to a relationship: all parties to all relationships have some power; the examination of power concerns itself with discovering and describing the relative strengths: equal or unequal, stable or subject to periodic change. Sociologists usually analyze relationships in which the parties have relatively equal or nearly equal power in terms of constraint rather than of power. Thus 'power' has a connotation of unilateralism. If this were not so, then all relationships could be described in terms of 'power', and its meaning would be lost. Given that power is not innate and can be granted to others, to acquire power you must possess or control a form of power currency.

  4. Reflective Introduction Continued Power is naming and un-naming, control and ownership and identity are very important elements in Power and Money; Money is Power, power is money and money is power.

  5. Continued There will always be a struggle to achieve power, be it a country, a business, or a sports team. Athletics is a good example of where there is a constant power struggle. In every league, every player wants control. They want what they think should happen during games, to happen. Years ago in the NBA, Dennis Rodman took this struggle to an extreme. In disagreement with an official's call, Rodman head-butted the official, and through a temper-tantrum on his way off the court.

  6. Conclusion of power When power becomes legitimate, it is then recognized as authority. Power becomes authority when it is accepted and even desired by society. Power authority refers to a situation where a person or group has been formally granted a leadership position. An individual has authority when everyday norms and regulations support the exercising of power by that individual. Power can be good, bad or evil but its all how you use or who is in control of the power.
