  2. Inspirational • Creating the Starbucks Brand • What made Starbucks successful was their ability to make more memorable customer experiences. • Having baristas learn about the history of their coffee and about customer service • Providing employees with health benefits

Idealized- Being a role model • Schultz admits failure and take accountability • Coming back as CEO in 2008 after resigning Starbucks had lost is signature “neighborhood feeling” Had to make drastic changes to get Starbucks back on track Schultz understand his job is to inspire other. Self-effacing quickly denied running for president instead of staying in the spotlight

Intellectual • Challenging markets • Analyzing different locations and their environment in order to establish a new shop • Store Clustering • Schultz used this method to prevent competition from entering certain markets while also securing market share, thus increasing sales and consumer awareness of the brand
