  2. What is a Christian to do with his / her guilt?

  3. Admit that you are guilty • Of sin against God • Incurring his righteous anger • Come to Him because of his great compassion (v1)

  4. Ask God to cleanse you • We can’t achieve this (Jeremiah 2v22) • Religion can’t do it for us (v16, Mark 7) • God can ‘blot out, cleanse, wash away’

  5. Ask God to change you • David wants more than forgiveness! • He wants to be an evangelist, a worshipper • So he prays for God’s help • ‘Create in me a pure heart.’

  6. Luke 18 vv13-14 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
