  9. What is One Line Poetry? This style of poetry develops a theme (or universal message) within a line. This is difficult because you word choice needs to be very specific to achieve the tone you wish to convey.

  14. One Line Poetry Before you begin SSR, open your composition books to the Poetry Cover Page Number your One Line Poems from 1 / 2 / 3 etc. The first poem should be your favorite.

  17. Haiku Conventions Haikus have a very specific structure. If it does not follow the 5 / 7 / 5 syllable structure, then it is not a Haiku. Haikus are made of fragments. ASK EACH OTHER “What does Mr. Young Mean by fragments?”

  18. Haiku Conventions Haikus speak of everyday things using concrete details. Ex: stating that the truck is red is not using concrete details to describe the condition of the truck.
