From this point until today: -Some people struggle, receiving no help -Many repair their homes and get right back on their feet -A large number of people never return -Most things, through a slow and steady process, are back to pre-storm conditions today -Some neighborhoods are still in dire need of one last push to help their people out

  13. The dichotomy continues: some people are… Comfortably back in their homes within 6-12 months Still working hard to make progress, even years later

  18. The Lower 9th Ward • A middle, working class neighborhood • Predominantly African-American • (city is 68% black) • Arguably the hardest hit area of the city • Has received little help and has made little progress since the storm
