  3. Parent Letter & Syllabus Please read along and pay attention to what is in the syllabus and class expectations. Please take home the parent letter, have your parents read it, and you should probably read it as well  There are also copies of this on My Big Campus Be sure to hand back syllabus-class set only.

  5. Debrief Writing Activity • (15 minutes) • o Reflect on your experience of your summer reading. • What was your favorite reading, the play Death of a Salesman or the novel The Great Gatsby? Why? • Have you read or viewed a production of either of the works before? What was similar or different about the two mediums? • Do you feel as though you have a full understanding of the literature/historical time period/authors of the pieces of literature you read? Did you do further online research of the works? What interesting information did you find in your research? • Did you find common themes among the two summer reading assignments? If so, explain.

  6. Homework: • Read the syllabus and bring back signed parent letter by Thursday. • Marshmallow Challenge Reflection • Be ready for a test over The Great Gatsby.
