  1. GRAM Stuart Martin Rachana Ananthakrishnan, Joe Bester, Karl Czajkowski, Mike Darcy, Martin Feller, Jarek Gawor, Peter Lane, Ravi Madduri, Neill Miller, Joe Link ANL - CDIGS

  2. Goals of the Project • To enable users to locate, submit, monitor and cancel remote jobs on Grid-based compute resources • To enable remote execution management in contexts for which reliable operation, stateful monitoring, credential management, and file staging are important • To provide a single service API and protocol for communicating with different local resource managers (LRMs)

  3. Relationship to Other Globus Projects • Uses RFT and GridFTP to satisfy file staging and cleanup directives • Uses java core in GRAM4 services • Uses C core in globusrun-ws CLI • Uses delegation service for user credential delegation • Provides multijob and rendezvous service for MPIg • Registers to MDS service registration service • GRAM4 sends usage stats - metrics project • OGSA-DAI for TG usage operation, leveraging GRAM service auditing • *Will* use LRMA project for interface to LRMs

  4. Current Work • Implement solution to improve GRAM4 staging improvements • Add new “local call” core functionality so GRAM “internalize” RFT when co-located • Add RFT caching of GridFTP server connections • Release in 4.0.5 for VDT 1.8.x for OSG 0.8.x • Support GRAM auditing as it is deployed on TG in CTSS V4 and elsewhere • Start on JSDL work: Investigation, design, implement

  5. Planned Next Steps • Continue with JSDL work: Investigation, design, implement • Test and optimize GRAM4 performance in preparation for 4.2 • Start work on Advance Reservation

  6. Critical Issues • Support burden of GRAM2 • With the latest GRAM4 staging improvements, maybe it will be time to set a deprecation timeline/deadline for GRAM2? • Support for java core • Improved testing for scalability and reliability. Notifications under load is what GRAM determined was the root problem for staging. • How can we grow the number of developers for all GT projects?
