  1. MPLS-TP Survivability Framework Nurit Sprecher / Nokia Siemens Networks Adrian Farrel / Old Dog Consulting draft-ietf-mpls-tp-survive-fwk-03.txt IETF76, Hiroshima

  2. Scope and Objectives • Provide a framework for MPLS-TP-based survivability, introducing the functional architecture • The general description of the functional architecture is applicable for both LSPs and PWs. • Detailed consideration for the protection of PWs in MPLS-TP networks will be covered in a separate document. We expect that this draft will probably be worked on within the PWE3 working group. • Highlight areas where new work is required. • Use the recovery terminology defined in RFC4427 as normative. Note that RFC 4427 draws on G.808.1. • Refer to the requirements specified in RFC 5654. • Use similar principles of the recovery schemes as those defined and analyzed in RFC 4427 and RFC 4428.

  3. Status and Next Steps • Additional conference call was held to review the document. • The document is in a good shape and is progressing rapidly at the moment • Version 2 is currently with SG15 for early review • Good reviews from a number of individuals. Authors addressed the comments in version 3 which has been just submitted. • Authors plan to work further on the text • Address a few more comments from Dan Forst. • Address comments from SG15. • Fill in the gaps. • Authors are soliciting comments, feedback and suggestions for text from every one.
