  2. Objective This document defines the elements and functions of the MPLS-TP architecture applicable specifically to supporting point-to-multipoint transport paths.

  3. Approach The framework is written as a call by reference to existing MPLS, MPLS-TP and PW documents that address P2MP. There is a limited degree of profiling of the text in those documents to map to the P2MP requirements published in RFC5654.

  4. Draft-hmk-mpls-tp-p2mp-oam-framework This draft provides valuable input, and the authors of the p2mp framework feel that rather than incorporate the whole of the above draft, it would be better if the authors of the OAM draft provide a summary for inclusion in this document and then publish draft-hmk-mpls-tp-p2mp-oam-framework as a freestanding document.

  5. Next Steps The authors think that this draft is a good starting point to bring the document under the control of the MPLS Working group and ask for its adoption as a WG item. We appreciate and look forward to review comments so that we can complete this work.
