  1. Mass Spec Chemical Profiling with the Dq1000TM The Dq1000 is a portable quadrapole mass analyzer for use on drilling wells. It replaces all conventional gas detectors. It analyzes C1-C10 petroleum species, and inorganic compounds such as CO2, He, N2, O2 and sulfur bearing volatiles. It can discriminate among paraffins, naphthenes and aromatics, as well as contributions from the drilling fluid. The Dq1000 is capable of delineating charged zones, petroleum type, compartmentalization, fluid contacts and seals to a much greater extent than conventional instrumentation. Interpretation of data follows from our 18 years of experience with subsurface fluid chemistry

  2. Helium Injection Lag Determinations • Trigger Helium Injections and monitor them for lag determination and gas monitoring equipment performance evaluation

  11. FIT’s New Gas Cannibal constant volume gas extractor • Intrinsically safe pneumatic control circuit automatically tracks the mud level in the header tank and adjusts the extractor height proactively

  12. FIT’s New CV Gas Trap Top Graph shows mud level, which was raised or lowered about 4 inches every 5 minutes. The gear will automatically compensate for up to 12 inches of movement from a fixed position (19 inches total with manual adjustment). Bottom graph effectively shows the variation in gas head space in the trap (white) and pressure deviations in the sensor system used to trigger the pneumatic control unit (red). Mud level (consequently head space volume) was effectively maintained within +/- ¼ inch of setpoint. This virtually eliminates variations in gas readings common in fixed traps due to pit level fluctuations.

  14. Gas Extractor Performance Evaluation

  15. Dq1000 in Ultra-Deep Water Drilling with Volatility-Enhancing Gas Extraction • Volatility-Enhancing gas extraction is a mus in ultra dep water applications due to cold mud, diluted mud

  17. IsotechIsotubeAutoloader Isotubes contain radio tags encoded with unique serial numbers The Autoloader adds a time stamp to each tag together with its own serial number each time a sample is taken Reduces analysis of empty tubes Precludes “rapid-fire” “catch-up” sampling to compensate for missed intervals

  18. FIT-Dq1000 Chemical ProfilerIsotech-Isotube Autoloader Interface • By interfacing the Isotube Autoloader with the Dq1000 Chemical Profiler, Isotube sampling can be driven by both time and depth-based criteria • Sampling can also be triggered remotely – while viewing gas composition data off site using the Dq1000 monitor software • Eventually, auto-triggering based on chemical criteria will also be possible
