  4. Graduation • Graduation Ceremony • Date: Thursday, June 3 • Time: 4:00 p.m. • Place: Pensacola Civic Center • Caps and gowns (mandatory) • Announcements (optional) • All fees must be paid before graduation

  5. Senior Trip • Date: April 30 – May 2 • Place: Orlando • Activities include Grad Bash, Busch Gardens, Island of Adventure, Planet Hollywood, and DisneyQuest • Cost: $330 per student (estimated) • $50 nonrefundable deposit • Deposit due January 15 • Balance due March 12

  6. Project Graduation • Date: Thursday, June 3 • Place and Time: TBA • First Parent Meeting • Date: Tuesday, October 27 • Time: 6:00 p.m. • Place: WFHS Cafeteria

  7. Postsecondary Planning • On the job training, apprenticeship programs, and technical schools • CareerOneStop • College Career Life Planning • FACTS.org • Military training • ASVAB Career Exploration Program

  8. Military Service • Contact the recruiter for the branch of service being considered • Prepare for and take the ASVAB November 5 at WFHS • Registration begins October 5 • Register on the S.I.S. beginning October 7 • Parents should be involved • Contact Mr. Hunter for more information

College Planning • Senior College Checklist • State University System Matrix • Contact colleges and universities about deadlines • October 13 – first selective university deadline (FSU) • Apply on line when possible • Common Application for Florida universities available at www.FACTS.org • WFHS College Application Day October 13 • UWF and PJC representatives available • PJC Residency Form • University Residency Form • Counselors provide assistance with applications for one additional college or university • Register on the S.I.S. by Friday, October 9

Applying for College • Complete applications • Personal statement (if applicable) • Residency statement • Application fee • Application fee waivers available for qualified students (contact counselor for more information) • Provide references and recommendations (if applicable) • Complete transcript requests • Take required tests (ACT, SAT, and/or CPT)

College Visitation Policy • Students are allowed a total of 3 absences for college visits junior and senior year • College visits must have prior approval to be counted as excused school absences • College Visitation forms are available in the Guidance Department • Completed forms must be returned to the Attendance Office within 3 days after the visit

Student Athletes • Students who plan to play Division I/II college sports must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse (www.ncaaclearinghouse.com) • WFHS school code is 101-797 • Fee waivers are available • Completed transcript requests need to be given to Mrs. Thompson, guidance secretary • Monitor your eligibility status • Contact Mr. Hunter for more information

Bright Futures Scholarship Program • Bright Futures Scholarship Program changes • Bright Futures award information • Check student eligibility at www.FACTS.org • Apply for Bright Futures beginning December 1 www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org • Students must complete the on line application before graduation to be eligible for an award

Community Service • 75 hours required for Bright Futures Academic Scholarship • Hours must be completed before graduation • Community Service Guidelines • Students should talk with their counselor before beginning a community service activity to verify the service hours will meet Bright Futures requirements
