  2. Come to the Library!When? • Hours • Every school day • from 7:35 am until 2:50 pm

  3. Using the Library!How? • Either with your class • for research or book exchange OR • With a pass: -You will need a pass from a teacher or staff member to enter the library

  4. Using the Library!How? • With a pass: -For RECAP period: you will need to get a pass from the library before the start of RECAP period Sign up for a RECAP pass at Mrs. Hopta’s RECAP Window

  5. For RECAP - Computer Use • You will be assigned a computer number • Computers are available on a first come first serve basis. • Only 1 printer – at the check out desk. • Request permission to print!

  6. With a Pass - all other times • Show Mrs. Hopta your pass • Sign the pink log sheet whenever you enter and leave the Library. • Make sure that either Mrs. Hopta or Ms. Turk signs your pass before you leave.

  7. Check out/information desk • Check out: • up to 4 items • for 2 weeks • with 2 possible renewals • To check out a book or magazine: • Bring the item to the check out desk • Use your student ID card or number Mrs. Hopta’s Check Out Window

  8. Return Areas Two book drop areas where you may return books and magazines ●Check out desk ● Hallway outside the Library

  9. Be a Responsible Library Citizen Respect the Library 1. No food or drink in the library. 2. Be sure to return all books on time. Consequence for not being a good library citizen:  1. You will not be able to check out any library books. 2. You may lose your Library computer privileges

  10. How to Locate Books • Two OPACs: Search by author, title, or subject • Fiction Books • Arranged in alphabetical by the first 3 letters of the author’s last name • Call number starts with F(for Fiction) • Nonfiction Books • Arranged in number order by their Dewey Decimal number

  11. Borrow Biographies • Biographies are located across the back of the library in the rows of shelves under the windows. • Arranged in alphabetical order by the first 3 letters of the subject’s last name • Call number starts with B(for Biography)

  12. Borrow Magazines • The most recent issues of magazines are on display in plastic covers and may not be checked out. • Back issues of magazines are located behind the display shelves and may be checked out.

  14. Reading areas • Seven ottoman seats • Used for quiet reading • Ask permission to move one. Then be sure to return it.

  15. Library Classroom • Enter though the door inside the library • Seats will be assigned.

  16. Library Website Use for: • OPAC • Research • To create a bibliography • Class projects Library Website
