NJQSACNJ Quality Single Accountability Continuum History Summary of Interim Visit • District Office Visit – Oct. 16 • School Visits (DHS, MMS, GI) – Oct. 17 • Oct. 2013 Interim Visit Score (received in Nov.) was a 72% • Some student achievement points were gained for improvement in elementary Math, district Science, and HS graduation rate • All supervisory points were earned back except special area benchmark review – is occurring now • May 2012 – full QSAC review, Instruction and Program received a score of 63% • Instruction and Program is comprised of points for student achievement and supervisory practice at the district and school level • District Improvement Plan was developed, approved by BOE and state, and implemented Sept. 2012-present • Oct. 2013 interim visit was to review those items

Summary of Elementary Achievement NJASK *baseline data-new test MAP • CECC – K is below national norm in Math, below district average in ELA; 1st is above in both • PA – K & 1 are above national norm in Math and ELA, above district average in both • ELA – district and most schools, grade levels below national norm in grades 2-6 • Math – district and many schools, grade levels above national norm in grades 2-6 • Good Intent – met 1/10 performance targets • Lake Tract – met 8/14 performance targets • Shady Lane – met 5/12 performance targets • Oak Valley – met 9/10 performance targets

  5. Summary of Secondary Achievement NJASK/HSPA MAP • MMS – mostly all above national norm in both Math and ELA • DHS – mostly below national norm in ELA, above in Math • MMS – met 5/12 performance targets • DHS – met 10/10 performance targets (met 3 of its 2015 targets)

  6. Action Plan • New elementary ELA program* • Increase tutoring programs* • Expand AVID program • Continued preparation for PARCC through collaboration, training, data analysis, assessments, and communication (PARCC pilot) *Pending 2014-2015 budget

NJ High School Graduation Rate Background • Prior to 2011 graduates – calculated based on seniors only, who were traditional “drop-outs” • 2012-present • Calculation begins in 9th grade • Measures how many students graduate in 4 years • Does not take into account special education students who are educated beyond 4 years • Students who withdraw from DHS at any time is tracked with an ID # and must re-enroll somewhere else, or is an “unverified student”

Deptford High School’s Graduation Rates 3-year Trend Action Plan • Reviewed and disaggregated data to identify students • HS Principal organizing a strategic planning meeting • 2013: 81.62% • 2012: 83.40% • 2011: 82.82% • Concerns – students with disabilities (60%), economically disadvantaged students (70%)
