  1. MOM Report Ray Gamet MICE Operations Manager University of Liverpool MICO 18th May 2009

  2. Commissioning Needs • Decay solenoid: • Burnt-out decay solenoid chiller fan not yet been replaced. • Detailed schedule for solenoid commissioning has been drawn up. Decision has been made not to run magnet in June in parallel with painting work in hall. Schedule still permits commissioning to be completed before the end of August but transfer-line repair is now on critical path. • ISIS has continued to have problems starting up but radiation survey of DSA finally took place on 16th May. - No measurable radiation and we now have access. • Believe that delayed startup will not affect shutdown dates in August but Chris Rogers is checking this. • Infrastructure: • Air conditioning commissioning has started. However, units draw a larger current than designed for so cannot be run continuously for long periods. A fix is possible (new pulley wheels to slow them down) but will cost money. • Floor plates for Step II now complete. Air pads need to be tested. Rolling platform will be installed by 25th May. Commissioning Needs - Gamet

  3. Commissioning Needs • Working target – Stands. • one in R78 for demo • one in ISIS for data Plan drawn up which should see two complete target assemblies ready for installation by end July, but may need to parallelize some work. • Detectors – • Tracker cryostats • Cryostats 3 and 4 running very stably. • Malcolm has almost finished LED calibration of cryostats 3 and 4. • Work on alarm systems ongoing, hope to complete this week. • Cosmic ray trigger set up, need frame to support counter on top of tracker 2. • CKOV • Remote readout of temp. and pressure sensors has been set up by Craig and Linda with help from Malcolm. Needs integrating into EPICS. Pierrik Hanlet is doing this. • Spare HV power supply that failed(faulty chip)still in Genevaforrepair. Commissioning Needs - Gamet

  4. Issues • Documentation inventory/overhaul - ongoing • Instructions for shifters – old documentation needs updating. LC working on updated MOM instructions. • All relevant safety documents needed in one obvious place – if sent to ME, he will put them on the MICO web page. • Computing • Need network connections to progress in Hall • Still cannot print on OKI printer in R76 but solution found with Kevin Dunford (cost £150). AN has given KD an order for this, but KD no longer sure if this will solve problem. He is discussing it with suppliers. • Wiring for wireless in R76 installed but still not available. • Need Windows PC in MLCR. Miceblm1 now has Windows installed. • Need connection to GRID from MLCR – pending • Need beamline magnets on to test alarm handler • Still no water to beamline magnets, but expect it to be restored very soon. This should still be fine for arrival of Pierrick Hanlet at RAL on 26th May, when he will test alarms. Commissioning Needs - Gamet
