  1. PEMF & ACUPUNCTURE: MAGNETIC FIELD THERAPY for PTSD & INFLAMMATION Kathleen Rosenblatt PhD, L.Ac. AcupunctureBelair.net CellularMeditation.com

  2. ACUPUNCTURE A network of  energy pathways, the body's electrical conduits --- wiring that acts as an interface between simple molecular activity and complex organ systems.  To revitalize and relax the nervous system, and balance metabolism & hormonal health.

  3. All living organisms are a composite of energetic forces interpenetrating physical tissue. • We exist as an interaction of physical cells/tissues/ organs imbedded with energetic flows that act to organize, control and literally animate it. (ie red blood cell)—Wilhelm Reich’s orgone box. • One without the other cannot exist as living organisms as we know it. • Energy to organize and tissue to provide structure and stable strength. • Energy flows to create growth and repair to literally “flesh out” the organism.

  4. --The body is animated by flows of energy known as chi. --The patterns of energy flow in 12 paired meridians are the matrix of energy for the body. --Food and air combine to produce the true chi of the body. --Energy creates and organizes tissue.

  5. The flow of energy from internal to external and back again. Points are places where energy comes to the surface. Magnetic field around a magnet as energy flows. The flow of energy interpenetrates the physical body. Energy flow organizes and regulates the physical more dense cells of the body.

  6. The awakening of our interest in Chinese Medicine: • 1973--Nixon goes to China and the “bamboo curtain” is opened. • Mao has reactivated Chinese traditional medicine as a national treasure. • James Reston, editor of NY Times, treated with Acupuncture for post-appendectomy pain.

  7. Western Medicine • Roots traced to Greek and Roman--Galen and Hippocrates • Ethical basis of medicine—No surgery unless specific training--Barber surgeons. • Tissue/biochemical medicine—denser substance. • Modern medicine has basis in German analytical chemistry, Italian anatomy and dissection, and French military surgeons.

  8. Western Medicine • Lister in England developed antisepsis.

  9. --Based in scientific theory and evidence-based medicine only several hundred years old --Testable theories and hypothesis. --A huge body of facts and investigations with very little unifying theoretical constructs.

  10. P E M F ---improves neural transmission; ---increases neuronal nuclear activity; ---stimulates protein transcription & translation which ultimately determine features of MOOD and BEHAVIOR.

  11. PEMF therapy increases the flow of ions and nutrients into the cells and stimulates blood and interstitial fluid circulation. With increased lymphatic drainage and blood flow, cells receive more oxygen and nutrients, and eliminate toxins faster. Cells function better and tissues repair themselves more efficiently. Through the same processes, vital organs such as the liver, kidneys and colon are able to rid themselves of impurities thus detoxifying the body and allowing better organ functionality.

  12. Probiotics in DoctorR Brand --Containing a unique blend of 8 separate strains of bacteria—4 Billion organisms; Lactobacillus: acidophilus, casei, rhamnosis, salivarius—increases Ca+ and Vit B absorption --Bifidobacterium: bifidum, lactis, longum --prevents invasion of pathogenic bacteria and yeasts --Streptococcus: thermophilus—increase immunity and cancer prevention

  13. Connective collagen tissue: • A coherent liquid crystalline structure that allows instantaneous communication throughout the body & appears to be faster than nerve transmission. • Perfect feedback & synergy if we tune in to it.

  14. Connective tissue: Tensegrity of non-living cables that maintain our stance more than bones, with gel/sol changability. Fibroblasts: key element in wound healing: Unique ability to migrate to any stress point in body to secrete collagen chains, repair tendons, ligaments, muscles. Tendons: made up of little hairs that become tangled and collect ‘debris’-– edema & crystallized salts that disrupt normal functioning.

  15. PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC • FREQUENCY GENERATOR • FDA approved for depression. • Activates the metabolism. Regenerates muscle tissue. Helps repair torn muscles and ligaments. Revitalizes skin tissue. • Boosts the body's defenses: Toxins & waste products are more rapidly broken down. • Boosts Energy and healing processes through better micro-circulation.Increases useable oxygen and ATP. • PEMF stimulates the cell's natural magnetic charge so that its membrane becomes permeable again and allows nutrients and oxygen to flow through.

  16. Dr. William Pawluk’s book on PEMF: Magnetic therapy in Eastern Europe --A basic anti-aging strategy. --Pathology starts in the individual cells from damaging agents. --Normal cells: homeostasis and normal apoptosis (appropriate cyclic renewal/turn-over of cells.) PEMF only affects damaged cells. --Penetrates ALL biological tissue, unlike laser or ultrasound.

  17. Univ. of Toronto Mt. Sinai Medical Center PEMF Wound Healing study on bed sores and conflict injuries. In Dubai a partial torn rotator cuff study approved after trial study on construction workers. U. of Miami funded a study on the blood samples of inflammatory marker changes after PEMF treatment.

  18. --Mayo Clinic: first U.S. medical facility to study PEMF in 2002; offered for treatment after FDA approval in ‘08. --Columbia Univ. Dept. of Psychology: PEMF study on depersonalization disorder (DPD). --Cedars Sinai depression study at Thalian Mental Health Center. --American Academy of Anti-Aging determined that pain medications became more effective with the addition of PEMF treatment. Medications could thus be reduced.

  19. The field strength of the pulsing electromagnetic signal must be sufficiently powerful (measured in Teslas (T)) to penetrate deep enough inside the cells and bones. This causes tiny mechanical movements, resulting in micro-electrical currents inside the bones and cells, currents which are responsible for the beneficial effects. A painless tapping sensation can be felt.

  20. Keys to the New AmMed • Energy flows first and tissue is organized from elemental particles behind it. • Energy interpenetrates the physical tissues and in turn causes the generation of more dense energies—chi to ATP. • Energy moves from finer to denser. • Prevention is most important. • The cause of any disease begins first on the energetic level then progresses to the physical (finer to denser).

  21. Keys—continued 2 • Both the energetic as well as the physical must be considered in the treatment of any disease. • Western medicine as physical (battlefield medicine) must always be supported (stop the bleeding/acute infection/ischemia/MI) • Energetic considerations are most important in chronic/degenerative diseases. • The body is always in a state of dynamic (not static) equilibrium in relationship to its environment. • Medicines range from pure energy: homeopathics, to natural supplements to replenish the body processes, to crude drugs: herbs, to refined drugs: pharmaceuticals.

  22. Thixotropy: thicker, sluggish and weak with lack of movement. Must modify energy potentials of fascia & fibrotic muscle sacs. PEMF & Acupuncture break up adhesions and scarred, fibrous tissue built up around an injury or inflammation. These masses cause a gluing, shortening, thickening, and stiffening effect which weakens tissues and reduces full range of motion. Helps restore resilience and flexibility to connective tissue.

  23. HEART/ SMALL INTESTINE Fire (hysteria) LIVER/ GALL BLADDER STOMACH/ Wood (depression/anger) PANCREAS Earth (obsession) KIDNEY/BLADDERLUNGS/ COLON Water (fear) Metal (sadness)

  24. Cleaning the Slate --Removing inflammations and infections with natural products to reduce bacterial and viral infections. --Stretching muscles and ligaments to facilitate full circulation of blood and bio-energy. --Reducing excess baggage (weight). --Ingesting power nutrients.

  25. Acupuncture enhances metabolism to burn more fat; --reduces appetite; --detoxifies digestive system; --reduces cravings and addictions; and improves circulation and energy. This impacts both mental and emotional centers.

  26. Acupuncture for Weight Loss: A 2003 study in The Journal of Medical Acupuncture: participants receiving acupuncture lost more than three times more weight than the control group. 1998 University of Adelaide study in Australia, 95% of the participants receiving electro-stimulation on acupuncture points reported appetite suppression. Results showed that the acupuncture group was more likely to experience a reduced appetite and to lose weight than the control group.

  27. VirXal Fulvic and Humic acids impede the replication of viruses. Increases anti-oxidant activity, and adds good bacteria, nutrients and minerals. Viral load is reduced. Herpes virus radically reduced.

  28. Acupuncture enhances metabolism to burn more fat; --reduces appetite; --detoxifies digestive system; --reduces cravings and addictions; and improves circulation and energy. This impacts both mental and emotional centers.
