Section 43 • Issued by HQ (new staff) • Eight 20 ft containers • Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) – debarked/untreated • Norway spruce (Picea abies) - debarked/untreated • Montreal (Aug. 26, 2007) to Calgary → Golden (Sept. 7, 2007) • All logs unloaded at Louisiana Pacific • Tomicus piniperda (adult) • Orthotomicus erosus (adult) • Trypodendron lineatum (adult) • Cerambycid larvae; Buprestid adults • Sept. 12-13 destruction of logs (chip and burn) • Sept. 17 – Oct 30 (trapping → no non-indigenous) • Import for multiple shipments - cancelled

  8. Plans for 2008 • Lures target potential insects of pine/spruce • E.g. Ipsduplicatus, Ipssexdentatus, Hylastes spp., Hylurgops spp. • Where possible use true aggregation pheromone • E.g. Ips typographus 97% (-)-ipsdienol instead of (+/-) • Traps and lures shipped to Vernon/Kelowna • Ground survey?
