  3. Grade 8 Horizons Week Sea Kayak Adventure: May 26, to May 29 2014. Travel • We will be traveling on a chartered coach provided by Western Bus Lines. Trip Details • Our Grade 8 class will be paddling the Gulf Islands in sea kayaks this Spring. The program, which has been designed for us by the Salt Spring Adventure Company, will focus on teaching paddling technique, on-the-water navigation, calculating tides and reading charts, as well as breaking and setting up a campsite. • Students will spend two nights camping at island campsites adjacent to Salt Spring Island, before camping at Ruckle Provincial Park on the third and final night. • The students will spend two and one half days of kayaking, they will witness the many beauties and of the coast, as they explore the coves and beaches of the Gulf Islands.

Grade 8 Travel Itinerary Monday, May 27, 2013 • 5:45 am Meet at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School • 6:00 am Bus leaves, student to bring bagged snacks • 11:00 am Ferry to Swartz Bay (students to eat on the Ferry) • 1:00 pm Ferry to FulfordHarbour (Salt Spring Island) • Salt Spring Adventure Company will pick us up and commence with their programming. (see attached itinerary) Thursday, May 30, 2013 • 11:50 am Ferry to Swartz Bay (Lunch on Ferry) • 1:00 pm Ferry to Vancouver • 6:30-7:30 Estimated time of arrival back at school • (please call the school at 3:30 pm to confirm pick-up time

Frequently Asked Questions: • Do I need everything on the packing list? • YES (rain gear, rubber boots, sun screen, hat, purell) • How much money is needed ? $30 – 40 • When is the bus leaving? 5:45 AM sharp • Forms ? • Snacks: must be stored in kitchen bags overnight • Medication: must give labelled meds to teachers • Bathrooms: Outhouses or bring a shovel • Home arrival at 7:30 PM
