  7. Quick Review 1) Substitution 2) Evaluate X = 3, y = 2 2 + 3(8-5)2 45 – 1 X2 + y 3) Simplify - 5 - 4(x – 8) + 3

  8. Solving Multi-step Equations Distributive Property Combine Like Terms Move variable on right to left Undo Add/Subt Check Answer Undo Multi/Div

  9. Equation Practice • 2x + 6 = 12 • 3(x-5) = 21 • 8x – 2(x + 7) = 16

  10. Translate and Solve • Five times a number increased by 5 is the same as 3 times the same number decreased by 7. • Four times a number plus 10 minus two times the same number is 6.

  11. Solving Inequalities • Solve and graph the solution set of:   2x - 6 < 2 2x - 6 < 2 2x < 8 Add 6 to both sides. Divide both sides by 2. x < 4 Open circle at 4, since x can not equal 4, and an arrow to the left, because we want values less than 4.

  12. CW/HW Review of Algebra Worksheet
