  2. Marc Chagall- Russia • ‘I and the Village’ 1911 • Narrative self-portrait about his childhood memories of living in Vitebsk, Russia. • Contains images of Russian landscape, animals, and symbols from folk stories.

  3. Frida Kahlo- Mexico • ‘Self Portrait along the boarder between Mexico and the United States’ 1932. • Frida spent a lot of time in the USA but her heart belonged to Mexico.

  4. Paul Gauguin- France • ‘Miraculous Source’ 1894 • Image of life in tropical Tahiti which is where Gauguin found most of his best inspiration and decided to live out his final days of life.

  5. Faith Ringgold- USA • ‘Tar Beach’ 1988 • Faith Ringgold would create mixed-media quilts that told the story of her childhood and images of home.

  6. Katsushika Hokusai- Japan • ‘Mitsui Shop on Suruga Street in Edo’ 1831 • One of the most well known Japanese artists. • Famous for creating images of traditional Japan from the Edo period.
