  1. Artists Musicians and alternative artists By: Ashley Bonner Jordan Houx and Sara Raines

  2. Purpose Statement To inform people about new looks and reasons behind those looks. To inspire people from the outside looking in to embrace new concepts and fashions and to understand the reasoning behind them, not to despise them. To give insight into the artist’s life and inspirations.

  3. Background of Consumer Group Young art students and artists, from20-30 years of age, including musicians and alternative artists living in urban areas. Influences can come from various people, fashions and objects such as moviesand other music .

  4. Data Collection • Interviews were taken in person and through email. • Observations were done locally at coffee shops and the university. • Books, trade publications and online resources were utilized for research.

  5. Findings • Artists tend to dress in what they find inspiring to them as well as comfortable. • Creating a story out of what you are wearing. Vintage items have their own story and that adds value to the item itself. Creating different looks by mixing up different pieces is essentially part of their art work. • Inspiration come from musical subcultures of the metal and industrial scenes.

  6. Trends • Vintage or items that appear to be vintage • Tattoos and piercings • Heavy Metal inspired accessories • Metallic leathers and exotic skins • Gilded embellishments • Rough, aged finishes simulating decay
