  2. SB-SAR: Mission Statement • The purpose of this report card is to communicate the student’s progress and effort towards mastery of the California State Standards for each grade level.

  5. Each part of the accordion is a standard New report card similar to an accordion

  6. Trimester Indicators A student receiving a “4”consistently demonstrates mastery of grade level standards. A student receiving a “3” has met the trimester goal and is progressing toward mastery of grade level standard. A student receiving a “2” can demonstrate some understanding of the standard, however, needs support to reach mastery of the standard. A student receiving a “1” has little or no understanding of the standard. 8

Pilot: Parent Feedback • Survey question 1 • The new standards-based student achievement report provided me with detailed information that allowed me to have a clear idea on my child’s academic progress. • Responses: • No, definitely not (2%) • I’m not sure at this time (6%) • Yes, definitely (92%)

  8. Pilot: Parent Feedback • Open-ended feedback samples: • “Areas of student progress are clearly defined and explained. As a parent, I know what the student needs to work on and what they are learning within the school year.” • “It helped me understand exactly where my child needs help and where he is strongest in his academics.” • “I love it, finally something that tells me where my daughter is struggling.” • “Keep it basic and simple, (the old) report card is a lot better and easier to read and understand than (the new report card).”
