  3. The Senior Year Calendar • Ton of information on this page. KEEP THIS. Refer to it as you need it. Will guide you through this year. • Upcoming Important Dates: • Sept. 7th – SAT registration for Oct SAT • Sept. 26th – College Fair at RCHS • Sept. 28th – deadline for the Student Profile (Regular Admission)

  5. FOUR YEAR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION Diploma Application Must fill out and return to Ms. Coffey ASAP. SPELL YOUR NAME CORRECTLY – what you write will be on your diploma!!!

FOUR YEAR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION • Diploma Seals • Board of Education Seal • Meet requirements for standard diploma • Have a GPA of 3.6 or better • Governor’s Seal • Meet requirements for advanced diploma • Have a GPA of 3.0 or better • Earn at least 9 college credits through AP/DE

  9. FOUR YEAR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION The College Application Process • This packet contains helpful hints to completing your applications. READ IT! Many of your questions can be answered in this packet. • Helpful Hints – DON’T PROCRASTINATE! Start now… it will save you time in the long run. • Deadlines are deadlines… no exceptions. • DO NOT give Mr. Rapoza, Ms. van Ravenswaay, or any teacher forms just before a deadline (holidays). We will not guarantee that they will be done in time. It will be your crisis. Not the Guidance Office’s.

Also gives the Federal School Code for when you are registering for ACT/SAT and you want the scores sent to a college/university.

FOUR YEAR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION Brainstorming Ideas for the College Application Essay Mr. Rapoza will be available in the Library Periodical Room on Tuesdays and Fridays during Lunches to help answer questions regarding College Essays, Applications, etc. Sign up in the Guidance office before. You must come during your lunch. Up to 6 students will be allowed to meet during a lunch period. Starts Sept 4th and runs through Nov 13th.

  21. TWO YEAR COMMUNITY COLLEGE Can be a gateway to the Commonwealth’s four-year colleges and universities. This packet provides a list of every degree at Virginia’s Community Colleges and where they are offered. - Like Construction Technology… how about Virginia Western (Roanoke) - Like Automotive Analysis and Repair… how about Blue Ridge (Weyer’s Cave)

  22. SCHOOL to WORK INFORMATION Applying for a Job Application Cover Letters Resume Interviews - English teachers will be helping – but if you want to come and visit in the Periodical Room – please feel free to sign up. Or just stop by my office during Spring Semester.

  23. MILITARY INFORMATION Military Overview Quick Resource… Make sure you sign up to talk to recruiters when they visit the Guidance Office.

  24. REVIEW NO MATTER WHAT THE CHOICE… Stay ORGANIZED. DON’T PROCRASTINATE – Start Now Ask Questions… FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and go through everything with a fine tooth comb ALWAYS be respectful and polite. Treat Ms. van Ravenswaay with respect. Show respect to your teachers. Share this with parents.
