  2. Minimum Requirements for Graduation

  3. The Minimum Standard Program • Must earn 5.5 credits each year • NO “Rest Home” Senioritis!!

  4. Honors Diploma • Successfully complete the requirements for graduation • Successfully pass all Ohio Graduation Tests • Successfully meet at least 7 of the following 8 criteria: (see next slide)

Successfully meet at least 7 of the following 8 criteria: • Earn 4 units of English • *Earn 4 units of Mathematics • *Earn 4 units of Science • Earn 4 units of Social Studies • Earn 3 units of one foreign language or 2 units of two foreign language • Earn 1 unit of fine arts • Maintain an overall high school GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4-pt scale up to the last grading period of the senior year • Obtain a composite score of (27) on the ACT or equivalent composite score of (1210) on the SAT *Criteria (b) and (c) have specific requirements as well – be sure to check with your guidance counselor

  6. College Application Process • Obtain application from college website • Complete all parts for which you are responsible on the application • Bring application materials to Mrs. Johnson in the Guidance Office Please include: a. $3.00 for transcript processing and postage fee; $7.00 for CD/DVD b. A signed release 4. Completed application will be sent within two weeks of receipt

  7. College Application Tips: • Watch deadlines – allow 2 weeks to process all applications • If you apply on-line: let us know ASAP – Please make sure the college received your on-line application • Make copies of all of your applications for your personal record

  8. College Application No-No’s DO NOT: • Submit your application without parental review • Bring in your application materials piece by piece • Expect your application to be processed immediately if you have missed a deadline

  9. Special Note: • We will dismiss for Holiday Break on December 17. Our office will NOT be open from December 20 through January 2. You must have applications to our office absolutely no later than Friday, December 3. After that date, there is no guarantee that applications will be processed until we return.

  13. September • Secure applications • On-line • Hard copy • Narrow college choices • Start making applications • Register www.fastweb.com • Register for: • October ACT/SAT • November SAT/SAT- subject tests

  14. October • Early Decision application deadline (October 1-November 1) • Test given at OHS: • October SAT, October 9 • October ACT, October 23

  15. November • Try to complete applications by November 1. • Financial Aid Meeting November 8 at 7 pm

  16. December • Notification of Early Decision candidates • Be aware of January 1 deadline • December 3 last day for applications

  17. January • ALL college applications should be completed • FAFSA should be filed • Complete scholarship and financial aid applications • Attend Alumni Pizza Panel, January 4, 2011

  18. February • Continue to complete scholarship and financial aid applications

  19. March • Local scholarships available • Continue to apply for scholarships • Compare and contrast college offers

  20. April • Final notifications of college acceptances/rejections • Compare and contrast college offers • Local scholarship deadlines

  21. May • Finalize contract with college you will attend • Notify schools you will not be attending • Tests given: • CEEB Advanced Placement tests

  22. June • GRADUATION!!!!! • Plan tentative program for freshman year at the college you will attend
