  1. The Hershey’s Fraction Book Presentation Jonathon Watson 7Th Grade Math Mrs. Neyland Book by:Jerry Pallotta

  2. Hershey’sMILK CHOCOLATE • We can eat it. • We cook with it. • We can learn about fractions from it. • Let’s open the candy bar!

  3. One Whole 1 or 12/12

  4. Let’s make fractions! • This is one–twelfth of the candy bar. (1/12). • If we save the rest we would have eleven-twelfths of the candy bar.(11/12)

  5. Two fractions are called equivalent fractions when they equal each other. • This is one-half or six- twelfths of the Hershey’s bar.

  6. There are several more ways we can make fraction using the candy bar. • This is one-third of the candy bar.We get one–third by dividing the candy bar into three equal groups. The groups have four sections. • If we add what’s left over(two-thirds) to one-third the fraction is equal to one. • 1/3+ 2/3 =3/3 =1 whole

  7. Here are some more fractions we can make:4/12=1/3 4/12+ 8/12=12/12=1whole

  8. More Fractions:This is 1/4 of the candy bar. This is 3/4 of the candy bar.

  9. What ingredients make up the Hershey ‘s bar? • MILK is one of three main ingredients. It is used to make the milk chocolate. • CHOCOLATE comes from cocoa pods. • SUGAR usually comes from a sugar cane.

  10. The Book Review • In the book I learned about fractions, such as, one-twelfth, two twelfths, four-twelfths, eight-twelfth and that twelfths-twelfths is equal to one whole. • I also learned fractions of one-half, one-third, one-fourth and three-fourth. • I learned that the three main ingredients in milk chocolate are sugar, milk, and cocoa.

  11. Closing • If were to take a survey of the class to see who likes Hershey’s Milk Chocolate. • Here is a way to get a fraction: If there are sixteen students in the classroom and one teacher this equal to seventeen people in all. • If eight people like the candy bar the fraction would be 8/17. • If the rest of the class did not like the candy bar it would be nine people who didn’t and the fraction would be 9/17.
