Adverbs. Adverb Definition. A word used to modify (adjust/describe) a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It tells how, when, where, how often, or how much! Adverb Video. Examples. Dad snores loudly . His snores are really explosive. Dad snores very loudly.

  2. Adverb Definition A word used to modify (adjust/describe) a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It tells how, when, where, how often, or how much! Adverb Video

  3. Examples • Dad snores loudly. • His snores are really explosive. • Dad snores very loudly.

  4. Adverbs of time: Tell when, how often, and how long. • Tomorrow • Often • Never • Always Jen rarely has time to go swimming.

  5. When? – I’ll see you later!

  6. Adverbs of place: tell where, to where, or from where • There • Backward • Outside

  7. Where? – We lived there!

  8. Adverbs of manner: often end in “ly” and tell how something is done • Unkindly • Gently • Well Kyle boldly entered the dark cave.

  9. How? – He quickly agreed.

  10. Adverbs of degree:Tell how much or how little • Scarcely • Entirely • Generally • Very • Really Jess is usually the leader in these situations.

  11. To what extent?- She hardly moved.

  12. Come up with 5 awesome adverbs to describe what’s going on in the picture.

  13. Complete each of the following sentences by supplying an appropriate adverb. Record the adverb next to each sentence. • The soldiers must travel (how). • You will probably sleep well (when). • Did you study (to what extent). • Tonya took a deep • breath and dove (where).
