Gobble ‘til you Wobble!

Today’s Task: Determine actual cost of recipes using unit pricing!!!

What is unit pricing
What is Unit Pricing?

The actual cost of the ingredients that you are going to USE in the recipe …

For instance

If the container holds 2 cups but you only need to use 1 cup of that ingredient

You would

Divide the cost of that item in half

If the container cost $2, you would have used $1 worth in your recipe

Additional example
Additional Example

  • 1 Check the packaging to determine its size. Bags of sugar are sold by the pound, for example. If a 4 lb. bag of sugar costs $3.20, you can easily calculate its unit pricing.

  • 2 Divide $3.20 (the price of the sugar) by 4 (the unit, in pounds). The unit pricing is 80 cents per pound.

  • If there were 4 cups in a pound and you only needed 1 cup, the sugar would cost you 20 cents for that recipe
