  2. BUSINESS • Dues: By next meeting (September 26) • $35 new members • $20 returning members • $15 associate members

  3. NASHER • EVENT - Nasher (Sept. 15, 7pm):  • "Celebrate the opening of "The Deconstructive Impulse: Women Artists Reconfigure the Signs of Power, 1973-1991." Talks by co-curators Helaine Posner (chief curator and deputy director for curatorial affairs at the Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase) and Nancy Princenthal (New York-based writer and former senior editor of Art in America). Moderated by Kim Lamm, assistant professor in Duke’s Women's Studies Program. Reception and cash bar to follow.” • We will be carpooling for this event. Please let me know by Wednesday September 14th if you would like to attend the event.

GALA OPENING • EVENT/VOLUNTEER-Gala Opening at the Ackland (Sept 24th): • "The Black and White Gala celebrates the Ackland Art Museum and the more than 60 generous alumni who are sharing their treasures with us in the 2011 fall exhibition Carolina Collects: 150 Years of Modern and Contemporary Art. Be a part of this outstanding evening of excellent food, drink, music, poetry, and, of course, art!" • Volunteers needed. Student tickets are $15 with a valid student ID. If you do not want to volunteer but would still like to attend the event, this will count as an event.

  5. ASHEVILLE TRIP • Tentative trip to Asheville in early November • Stay the night? • November 4-5th or 11-12th

THE ARTS CENTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS! • If you are interested in volunteering this semester at any of the Carrboro ArtsCenter's programs, you should check out this event on Saturday, September 17th from 6-9 PM. Bring a snack, an instrument if you would like to play, and come out to meet people and find out ways in which you can get involved in the community!
