  3. MISSION • Our Mission is to: “facilitate skills development for Energy & Water Sector stakeholders, through providing integrated, value-added education and training services”.

NATIONAL PRORITIES • Speeding up economic growth and transforming the economy to create decent work and sustainable livelihoods • Massive programme to build economic and social infrastructure • Comprehensive rural development strategy linked to land and agrarian reform and food security • Strengthen our skills and human resources base

  5. NATIONAL PRORITIES • Improve the health profile of the nation • Intensify the fight against crime and corruption • Build cohesive, caring and sustainable communities • Pursuing African advancement and enhanced international co operation • Sustainable Resource Management and use • Building a Developmental State including improvement of public services and strengthening democratic institutions

NATIONAL PRORITIES • Speeding up economic growth and transforming the economy to create decent work and sustainable livelihoods • Solar power installation technicians/practioners • Water purification systems? • Irrigation systems (reusable water, rain water harvesting) • Massive programme to build economic and social infrastructure • Housing: provision of solar power for electrification • Heating systems: cooking systems (solar power) • Wind turbines? • Comprehensive rural development strategy linked to land and agrarian reform and food security • water, irrigation needs, initiatives for the provision of irrigation systems for small communities, • energy requirements for farming • windmills?

NATIONAL PRORITIES • Strengthen our skills and human resources base • Ensuring the implementation of learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills programmes • Improve the health profile of the nation • Health promotion practitioners to assist with training in sanitation • Intensify the fight against crime and corruption • Community watch (youth groups) provision of rechargeable lighting equipment

Thus possible to intro to communities.) • Pursuing African advancement and enhanced international co operation • Sustainable Resource Management and use • Convert waste into bio-fuel (maize?) dumps when put properly produces bio-gas is produced ( Sweden example, town heating from this source) • Waste management re-utilisation

How do we support • e.g how computers are to be powered in rural communities (joint initiatives) • Sustainable communities- Canada Best practise • Trends and best practise • Brazil, India, Austraia, New Zealand, Canada • Scandinavian countries (environmental activities) • Pilots and proof of concepts to test assumptions and create a test bed for projects such as bio-fuel etc before deployment. • Building a Developmental State including improvement of public services and strengthening democratic institutions

NSDS III EXPECTATIONS:Learning Programmes • PIVOTAL OCCUPATIONS Pivotal programmes are those ‘Professional, Vocational, Technical and Academic Learning’ programmes that meet the critical needs for economic growth and social development. They are also programmes that Generally combine course work at universities, universities of technology and colleges with structured learning at work. This is achieved by means of professional placements, work-integrated learning, apprenticeships, Learnerships, internships and the like.

DHET PERFORMANCE CONTRACT • OUTPUT 1: Establish a credible institutional mechanism for skills planning • OUTPUT 2: Increase Access to programmes leading to Intermediate and high level learning • OUTPUT 3: Increase access to occupationally –directed programme in needed areas and thereby expand the availability of intermediate level skills (with special focus on artisan skills)
